Star of the Week, Julius | Spring Strings

Our Firework Friends learned about their classmate, Julius, last week!  He is a THIRD generation Academy student, loves his family and sports.

Thank you for sharing with us, Star of the Week!

Julius also participates in first year Strings with classmates Ria, Grace, Mikey, Camille and Maria.  We enjoyed their concert at assembly this morning.  Congratulations to all who completed their first and second year Strings program!  Excellent job!

 

Outdoor Week

Our Fireworks were lucky enough to have a nice and warm Outdoor Week.  

We enjoyed extra recess!

We played with new toys...

...and new sand in the sandbox!

Bubbles were a big hit.

 The nature hike was a big hit, too!

 We picked out pet rocks, and we decorated them in class.

We enjoyed days of dress down and measurement math lessons outdoors.  It was fun to join the other second grade classes to hike and play!

Star of the Week Tanner, Aanav & Dominic

We have been busy in 2A!  Between the art museum, COSI, outdoor week, senior's visiting and the family tree project...we've been on the go!  

We enjoyed learning about our latest Star's of the Week: Tanner, Aanav and Dominic!

Tanner entertained us with his fun facts about his childhood and his cake-covered baby pictures!

 Aanav shared about his love for math, physical education and recess!

 Dominic shared stories and his love for his video gaming adventures with our Fireworks.

We enjoyed learning more about these three boys!  We are so glad they are a part of the 2A Fireworks this year.  It is hard to believe they will soon be THIRD GRADERS!

Columbus Museum of Art Trip

The second grade class visited the Columbus Museum of Art.  We were divided in to two sections to be detectives at the museum.  There were all sorts of interesting paintings, sculptures and things to see and do!  Ask your 2A Firework about what he or she saw today!

Did you know that Sunday's have free admission to the Columbus Museum of Art? We hope that you are able to visit with your child soon.

Happy Birthday, Grace!

Yesterday we celebrated Grace's birthday with delicious Minon cupcakes and the book, Bedtime for Frances by Russell Hoban.  We were lucky enough to have her mother stop in to celebrate with the Fireworks!

Happy Birthday, Dominic & Molly!

We celebrated TWO exciting 2A birthday's today!  Dominic and Mrs. Penney shared two awesome stories -- and we had some late-morning ice cream sandwiches!  

Mrs. Penney snuck over from next door to share "The Real Story of the Three Little Pigs" by Jon Scieszka and "The Web Files" by Margie Palatini.  Her character voices kept everyone very interested!

 

Molly's birthday celebration followed in the afternoon with her dad!  He read us a book "Walter the Farting Dog" by William Kotzwinkle...which received a lot of laughs!  We had delicious cupcakes!
