Our Stars of the Week for December

We had the good fortune of having Aliya, Keira, and Xavier shine as our Stars of the Week for the month of December.  Each shared their pictures from home and then their personal posters.  We learned so many interesting things about each of these special children!

Native American Day

To culminate our unit on Native Americans, all second grade classes joined together to do special activities centering around the customs and traditions of Native Americans.  We went on a hike to gather items for our dioramas.  We also shared a very special meal, prepared by our parents, that included food that would have been authentic to the Native Americans.  It was delicious!  Thank you to all of the parent volunteers for making this a fun tradition for all of second grade!

Happy Halloween

We finished up the month of October with a frighteningly fun Halloween party!!  Thank you to our parents for making it such a fantastic celebration!  You can see our creative costumes in the picture below.

Campfire Stories

One of the many great traditions at Columbus Academy is our annual campfire stories.  We shared this special time with our Pre-K buddies.  Our fantastic librarians, Mrs. Oeth and Mrs. Arner, told us captivating stories around the campfire.  Then we made s'mores and drank hot chocolate!  It was a perfect fall day!
