Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was an exciting celebration for our 2A students!  They brought in decorated boxes and bags for a Valentine exchange and enjoyed numerous treats and activities throughout the day.  Thank you to all the parents who participated and helped to make 2A's party a blast!

Jump Rope for Heart

On Valentine's day, Lower School students participated in Jump Rope for Heart, an American Heart Association event.  The kids had fun jumping rope and learning about their hearts and how to keep healthy.  The money raised by the Lower School goes toward helping kids with special hearts. Enjoy the pictures below.

100th Day of School

Today was the 100th day of school! During morning meeting, Claudia W. shared a poster she made at home that included pictures and different ways to show 100. On the back, she described each of her classmates using the words 'kind', 'fun', and 'funny'. This school year has flown by! We can't wait to see the progress 2A will continue to make through the winter and spring seasons.

Keepsakes

2A read the Keeping Quilt, by Patricia Polacco.  It is the story of Polacco's great-grandmother who came to America, and how her babushka became part of a quilt that was used at family celebrations.  It was passed on to each generation.  Students in 2A found a treasured item that belonged to their own family and brought it in to share with the class.  Our class was encouraged to start thinking about their own special keepsake that they would one day give to their own children or family.

Family Trees

The second grade worked very hard to create family tree posters to share with their classmates.  Students, with the help of their families, researched their own special and unique families to create a family tree display. Students shared their posters with the class, answered questions their classmates had, and also received compliments on their efforts!

Fairytale Plays

For our study of fairytales, our class was divided into three groups to act out a fairytale play.  Students were encouraged to bring in their own props and having practiced several times with their group, put on their play in front of their classmates. Below are photos of their performances.  Enjoy!
